Don’t let yourself be bullied!

It has come to our attention that a man claming to be from Blackout Asphalt or Paving is telling people that they will be paving the streets in the neighborhood and bullying people into signing contracts to pave driveways. Please be very careful in what you sign and don’t let yourself be pressured into anything. If you feel threatened, don’t hesitate to call the sheriff’s department.

According to our web search, Blackout Paving is a company from San Antonio, Texas. or another from Ohio or two from Missouri. Of the 53 “Blackout” listings with the Arizona Corporation Commission, none seem to deal with asphalt or paving. If anyone has had direct contact with this company, please let us know so that we can get information directly from them.

  1. This past December a neighbor across the street witnessed a semi tractor/trailer back up into my driveway from Sandstone Drive and crashed into and badly damaged my retainer wall. She told me she saw the same semi & equipment a short while later working in another neighbor’s driveway at the northwest corner of Sandstone and Snyder.

The resident having the work done told me Grand Canyon State Paving LLC in Phoenix is the company he hired to pave his driveway.

My research showed this Arizona LLC was formed in May 2023 with a Fort Worth, Texas address and the ACC shows a change of address from Fort Worth to Phoenix filed November 14, 2023, just 4 weeks before they damaged my property.

I filed a complaint with the registrar of contractors but it was dismissed on the basis that they are not concerned about damages the company caused to my property, but only about job workmanship issues. The sheriff’s department said they cannot pursue the incident since they do not know who the driver was, and the owner of the business denied responsibility and refused to provide any information.

My phone calls and certified letter to this company requesting they own up to this and pay for damages have been ignored. I finally paid $1,800 yesterday to a mason to tear down the damaged wall and rebuild the wall. I would suggest you notify all members to avoid this company. Thank you.

  2. We received a return phone call from Blackout Paving in San Antonio, Texas. They note they are not operating in the Tucson area at present, they do not have anyone going door-to-door and they do not use bullying practices to get business. The gentleman I spoke with was friendly, polite and proud of his company’s reputation. If you ever need paving in San Antonio, you can check them out at https://blackoutpaving.com/.
