April 2023 Newsletter

Dear neighbors:

We labeled it the “Super Picnic” and it was! Over 70 Hidden Valley residents enjoyed our beautiful park on a sunny March afternoon. There was plenty of excellent food thanks to Chef Pete Cinquemani and all of your contributions, a variety of beverages and a chance to see your neighbors and make some new friends. Thanks to you all for coming and for those of you who responded to our request for help with set up and clean up.

Park Director, Pete Cinquemani, removed a makeshift shelter and fire pit someone erected on what turned out to be private property on the south boundary of the park. The homeowner alerted Pete to the shelter and expressed concern about evidence of a campfire. If you notice any suspicious activity or what looks like vandalism please notify the Pima County Sheriff and Pete.

Elections are coming up. On April 5 we will have nominations for next year’s HVHA officers and board positions. So far we have a President Elect identified, Secretary, Treasurer. The Vice President position is open. I have agreed to continue for the next year beginning in June. Felix Gafner will serve as president elect. In June of 2024 Felix will become president and I will move to the immediate past president role. This will assure continuity for our board, but the Vice President position is available and important. Kelly Relich will manage the nomination process. If you are interested in running for any position please let her know at pandkrelich@q.com.

Mary Ann Jacobs ,our Social Director hosted the first game day at the Jacobs residence on the third Thursday in March. Lots of games and a fun afternoon.

The next game day is April 20. We are looking for hosts for May and June. Contact Mary Ann at 520-349-2772 if you want to host this fun event. Saturday Night Socials can resume whenever we have volunteer hosts. These events are so easy to do. The hosts only need the location, utensils and glasses. Everyone brings their own beverage and an appetizer or dessert to share. How painless is that? Contact Mary Ann when you are ready to host.

We want our neighborhood to continue to be Firewise and safe from wild fires. While the welcome rains brought us wildflowers in great abundance, they also brought lots of weeds. Please make sure your property is free of weeds and grasses which feed wild fires.

We have been approached by the American Red Cross to host a blood drive. When they have a bloodmobile available we will let you know.
