Dangerous Substance Use

[This article below was submitted by an active member of our neighborhood. As editor, I note that we do not have yet separate confirmation of this product being in our neighborhood. The issue seems real enough on the internet. But we have seen much on the internet that seems true and is not. Therefore, investigate for yourselves, but we would be wrong to withhold information that may save lives. ]

⚠️

Discarded packaging has been repeatedly found on the streets of the neighborhood from a dangerous opioid-like substance called 7-Hydroxymitragynine (7-OH).

Parents, please be aware: 7-OH is a concentrated opioid-like compound sold legally at smoke shops and gas stations, often in candy-like packaging designed to appeal to young people. The FDA has moved to classify it as a controlled substance due to serious health risks and has specifically flagged growing use among teens.

What you should know:

• Can be significantly more potent than morphine

• Highly addictive with severe withdrawal

• Overdose can cause respiratory depression and death

What to look for (see photos):

• Brightly colored blister packs labeled “7-Hydroxy,” “7-OH,” or “Alkaloid Tablets”, often with bold, youth-oriented graphics

• Empty silver blister packs with foil dots popped out, sometimes with small round cardboard backing discs scattered nearby. (This is the more common litter find, and suggests someone consuming the tablets while walking through the neighborhood. Packaging has specifically been found near school bus routes.)
